Here Comes the Sun

Hi Everyone!
I've been on a Summer kick lately and made this super quick card with my new Cricut Imagine cartridge: Word of Mouth.

The background sun rays were some left over "practice" pieces from my letter press (I was trying to see how regular dye ink would work compared to the actual letter press ink.  Result:  the images were not as crisp and clear, but clean up was SO MUCH easier!).  The ribbon is 3 Girl JAM Sunflower and a sneek peak of a new color.

The colors of this card go perfectly with the June challenge at A Homespun Affair.
If you have not seen this site yet- you are missing out.  It is hosted by the fabulous Jessica from Homespun Elegance!  Go check it out!!

Other challenges:
Celebrate the Occasion: Welcome Summer
Love To Create: Summer Fun

Thanks for stopping by!
To get the full details of the sneak peek of ribbon, you'll have to check out 3 Girl JAM on July 1, 2012.

Hello Summer Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and welcome to the Hello Summer Blog Hop hosted by the fabulous Ashley of the Glamorous Side Of Scrapping.  If you came from Angela's blog you are in the right spot.  If you just happened to stop by, make sure you go back to the beginning so you don't miss a thing!  There are awesome prizes to be won along the way so make sure you leave a little love on each person's blog.

Summer means different things to different people.  To me- Summer means enjoying every minute I can with my family.  My work is very busy during the Summer and late hours and weekend work is not uncommon for me during these months.  We try to do family oriented things on the weekends I have free so we pack in a lot of fun in a short amount of time!
I made a quick and simple card with some of my favorite summer colors.

The "Life is Good" is from Echo Park from the Silhouette Store.
The background papers are DCWV Linen Closet and Echo Park This and That.
The banners are from the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Stack.
The crinkle ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM Caribbean Splash Bundle.

A little blog candy for one lucky follower:
Just leave a comment below with your favorite Summer activity for your chance to win the Caribbean Bundle of crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM.

Your next stop is Lissa Marie!

A Gift for Mother

Hi Everyone!!

Last week my girls were away at a church camp with my Mother.
My Mother- God Bless Her- took my two girls and my brother's son and daughter to camp for 5 days.
They had so much fun!

My daughters love their Grandma so much and I am very thankful that they get to spend time with her.
So.....
While the girls were away, Mama could play!
The parents got to spend some quality time together and I got to spend some QT in my craft room too!

I wanted to make something special for my Mom to show her how much I love and appreciate her (not to mention trying to butter her up to take the girls for another week this Summer!).

I decorated a clock for her to hang in her house.

I started with a plain clock and carefully took off the hands.
I cut out a circle large enough to cover the face of the clock and then used some distress ink to color it all up.  Then I used the Pink by Design Wired background stamp and stamped the circle.  I took my Copics and colored in some of the hexagons to give it some dimension.  I also added a sentiment from Pink by Design: Gratitude.  The bee was cut from the Silhouette store.  Finally, I glittered the inside of the (clear) clock frame and sealed in the glitter with some hairspray.

My Mom loves bees!
She says the story of the worker bees remind her that you can "bee" anything that you want to "bee".
She truly believes that too- and has instilled that thought into all of her kids, and now her grandkids!

Here's my Mom!

She wasn't to thrilled about having her picture taken with messy hair and no makeup!

and here's Mom and the Girls back from camp!

It was nice to have some time alone- but it's always nice to have them back home!

Father's Day #4

Hi Everyone!
Happy Father's Day!
(I promise this is my last post with Father's Day cards until next year!)

This last one is another card for my Husband- but this one is from just me.
This card has lots of things on it that Josh loves.

He loves to camp.  He loves smores.  He loves me (Hey- I made the card)- but I love him "s'more".
And- he loves porcupines.
Ok- I made the last one up.  Maybe he doesn't love porcupines- but this one's cute- right!?!
(BTW- if I tell him to like porcupines- then he'll like porcupines!)
:0)

This card was really fun to make.
The background paper is from the Silhouette store.  I printed it out in B&W and in color for the frame.
The porcupine is from Cricut Campin' Critters
Sentiment is PBD Woodland Critters

Fathers Day #3

Hi Everyone!
Today is a Father's day card for my husband's Dad.

Steve is a pretty traditional man so when I saw the fishing boy and his dog-it made me think of him.  Steve's black lab that he's had for years recently passed away.  This dog was everything to the man so the local (small town) vet's office had another black lab that they gave to him.
The dog's name:  Peaches
If you knew Steve you would find this as hilarious as I do!
:0)
Peaches loves Steve and Steve loves Peaches.
And they lived happily ever after......

Happy Father's Day Steve!

Father's Day #2

Hi Everyone and Happy Friday!!
I have been so busy lately making Father's Day cards!
Today I want to show a card I made for my Husband (Josh if you're reading this- look away now!).
I saw this silhouette shape in the Silhouette store the other day and immediately thought of my husband and 2 daughters.  I knew right then that this was the card for him!

The Chevron background was also from the Silhouette store.
When this was all put together, I went through my stash of Pink by Design stamps to find the perfect sentiment.
The stamp set that was on the top of my pile was Scripted Year (probably because this is my "go to" set).
I saw the "Love" sentiment right away but kept looking trying to find the perfect words.
I found several sentiments that would have worked but I kept going back to "Love".
One word.
There is nothing that says it better.

It's my day to post on the Pink By Design site too!
PBD has started a new weekly challenge, Ink it Pink, that you should check out.
This week is all about Masculine projects!

Also, check out the card I made for my Dad!

Father's Day #1

Hi Everyone!
The girls have been away at camp for the last few days so I've have lots of quality time with my Husband and lots of quality crafty time too!
I've been busy making Father's day cards.  I've never really been very good at making "man" cards- but I think I'm getting better.
For the next few days I'll share my cards, who they're for, and what inspired me to make what I made.
My first card is for my Dad.
Jim, Jimmy Do, Borgnine, Papa D- he'll answer to any of them.
(Since I was little) He's always said, " You can call me anything- just don't call me late for dinner."
That's a "Jim-ism" as we call them in our family.

PDB: Just 4 Men, Silhouette Cameo
The background paper made me think of my dad.  He has a shirt just like it.
If it had short sleeves and a hole in the pocket- it would be like you were looking right at him.
(if you knew my dad you would totally get this!)
The tie on the other hand is SO NOT my dad, but hey- it's a special occasion-
It's Father's Day!

Ink It Pink

Hi Everyone!

Today I made a card to submit to the first Pink by Design Ink It Pink Challenge!
I never have a "Congratulations" card when I need one, so I whipped this up to have in my card stash.

The challenge is to use words as a background.
The "Congratulations" is from the Pink by Design set Giant Greetings.
I also used a wooden tag and stamped "Bravo" from the "Our Kids" set.
Top it all off with some 3 Girl JAM Baby Boy Crinkle Ribbon.
Done!

The challenge goes through Tuesday- and there is a new one every week- so stop by and link up your projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy June 1st!

Happy June 1st!!
No more homework, no more books...
No more teacher's dirty looks!
HaHa.  That's what my kids were singing (last week already) when they got out of school for the Summer!
We have one last Graduation to attend this weekend for my sweet niece Lorretta.  (Soon enough it will be my own kids!)
High School graduation is a time of big dreams and goals- and Lorretta has them!

I made a Memory Book mini album as a gift for Lorretta so she can keep photos, and other things that are important to her, close at hand when she goes off to college.

Front cover

page 1
page 2

page3

back side of page 3

Each "page" is actually an envelope that can hold keepsakes.
There are 10 pages that are bound together with a spiral ring binding.

I also made her Graduation card.
It is my day to post on the Pink By Design site, so please stop by for the details on this card.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!
