Vintage Appeal

Hi Everyone!
This week's Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky with K Andrew is all about Vintage Appeal.
I love the look of vintage- any and everything, but have never attempted to try to create something with a vintage feel.  So......
Here is my attempt!

This is a 5"x5" card.
The tickets (except the Tim Holtz "Dream"), trinkets, and corner pieces that I used were some left overs that I had (sorry, I don't know the brand).
I started out with a piece of cream colored card stock cut at 5"x10" and folded in half for the card base.I then cut another piece of the same color card stock (4.75"x4.75") and inked it with TH Distressed ink.
After it dried (with a little help from the heat gun!), I used my Imaginisce Distress Tool to batter up the edges before I adhered it to the card base.
Yet again, with the same cream colored card stock, I cut the background detail from the Cindy Loo Cartridge (pg. 68) at 4.5".
The flower was the most time consuming part of the whole project- 10 minutes to put together and overnight drying time.  I used the Cindy Loo cartridge (pg. 52) to cut four 3" scallops and four 2" scallops out of Tracing paper.  I set the Cricut to a blade depth of 6, speed-3, and pressure-2 (just like vinyl).  After the cuts were complete, I used some pink TH Distress Ink- activated with water and randomly inked the scallops.  If you click to enlarge the photo you'll be able to see the various shades of pink throughout the flower.
To see how to make a very similar flower, click Here.
The center of the flower was done with Glossy Accents and white glass beads.
The next day, when the flower was completely dry, I used Brown ink to add some highlights.

Now it's your turn!  Head on over to Getting Cricky with K Andrew and play along with the Simply Sunday challenge!

Stamp Party: Days 3 and 4

Tomorrow is the last day for my Giveaway!

To Pre-Order any of Kristal's stamps- Go Here.

Freedom Isn't Free to benefit Intrepid Fallen Heroes $14.99

Intrepid Fallen Heroes is a non-profiit organization that provides rehabilitative services to US military members who are severely disfigured from combat. (Imagine half a face blown off, or the loss of both legs). This charity is VERY dear to my heart, because there is nothing like being 20 years old, engaged, and coming home so disfigured you can't serve in the military anymore, and you don't even look like the person you were when you left. This is the price many of our service members make to keep us free. My hubby is an active duty military member, and I pray for his protection every time he is sent overseas; and I can't imagine what it would be like to fight and serve for my country and be horribly disfigured upon return, but I can imagine how amazing it would be to know there is help for you--this is my small way of helping those men and women who give up their lives so I can sleep peacefully at night.

NEW! Set 4: Food For Thought to benefit Storefont Shelter for Homeless Children $14.99
(MIX and MATCH food sentiments--great for notes in the lunchbox!)

So what are you waiting for......
Go get some!

Cardmaker's Bill of Rights

Hi Everyone!  I got this from my new friend Emily's blog,    Bombshell Em's Artistic Expressions.
She loves to stamp (and does a fabulous job!) and is involved with Operation Write Home.  Go check her out and give her some love!
I thought this was so great that I had to share it.

Cardmaker's Bill of Rights

A cardmaker delivers the most welcome kind of unannounced visitor: A HANDMADE CARD.
A card touches us – somehow, a small folded piece of paper can comfort, celebrate, reach out or just say hello. Creating a handmade card is an honorable and important task.

As a cardmaker, you are entitled (but not limited) to the following rights:

  • You have the right to take as long as you want to complete one handmade card. This may be five minutes or two weeks.
  • You have the right to send a card for no other reason than to show off your new stamp, embellishment or technique.
  • You have the right to create a fabulous card for your husband, partner or roommate – just because you know it will stay in your house.
  • You have the right to spread your cardmaking things out all over, just to admire them.
  • You have the right to purchase a certain cardmaking item for no other reason than because a) you like it; b) you think it's cute; c) you'll never find it again, or; d) you know you'll use it someday.
  • You have the right to reserve using your most precious supplies on cards only for recipients who will truly appreciate them.
  • You have the right to a workspace of your own. This may be the basement, your college student's old bedroom or the kitchen table.
  • You have the right to make cards when inspiration strikes – whether the dishes are done or not.
  • You have the right to request peaceful, kid-free, stress-less cardmaking time - guilt-free.
  • You have the right to let the handmade card be the gift, too.
  • You have the right to value your personal style.
  • You are creating a treasure - and part of that treasure is you.

Stamp Party!!

STAMP PARTY!! Official Previews of My Stamps: Positive Thoughts

Day 2 of 4

Check out day 2 of Kristal's Stamp Sets.  Make sure you check out her video also.

She's also doing a Giveaway on her blog- so make sure you go check it out!

(From Kristal's blog)
Hi everyone! I'm doing one preview of my newest stamp line each day this week. Yesterday was Fashionable Friends which goes to help benefit the charity: Cancer Angels here in San Diego, CA. This agency gives atleast 95% to Cancer 4 level patients, regardless of which cancer they are battling. That was important to me--when researching charities--that they give atleast 85% directly to the people in need, and also that the money stays here in America.
Another important part of choosing my stamps was making sure they are manufactured and assembled completely here in America.
Whew! I've been BUSY as a bee for the past month doing all this. I'm such a sap. I've been researching all my charities, and that's why it's taking me a while to pop up set 4 which will be Saturday...becuse I've been researching to find a GOOD charity that benefits feeding the hungry--and yes I've done alot of crying the past few days. I'm such A softie--so when I read all these reviews, and stories I cry! YEEESH!
Okay so on to my 2'nd PREVIEW! This set was very dear to my heart, as they are all sayings I use alot, and knew they would be perfect on cards I send out. Most of the cards I send are Encouragement Cards. So I tried to make this set versatile, so they can be used on the inside and outside of the card. There are 19 sentimetns on this 4x6 sheet so they are small, but not teeny tiny--just perfect for card makers!
I've made two projects using this set so far but I know this will be the set that gets ALOT of us from me...because I love inspiring and encouraging others. Scroll down to see my newest video!

This set goes to benefit by SIGNATURE Charity: Storefront Shelter which takes the street 6 nights a week looking for homeless children here in San Diego, CA. 86% of it's proceeds go directly to the children.
I think it's a good thing to do--EVERY DAY all the time. Find little ways to be charitable in your resources, both time, money, and acts of good will. YOU never know who you are touching, and how far your small act of kindness will go. I'm sorry I'm such a SAP but this is me...I just don't think you can out-do God.
If you are  interested in my 2'nd set: Positive Thoughts just CLICK HERE to check it out or purchase....or click on my Products tab. I'll see you back here tomorrow with another stamp preview--thanks for letting me share.

Fabulous Friends

Check out my Giveaway going on HERE!

Hi Everyone!  As you all know- I am on the Getting Cricky with K Andrew's design team and I am so excited about her new venture! This super sweet lady has designed some fabulous new stamp sets!  Kristal is taking pre-orders for all of her sets right now and you can see them all under the products tab on her blog or by clicking {HERE}. Because Kristal is so generous she is not only giving you FREE SHIPPING on all pre-orders she is donating $1 of her profits to a charity. I will  be doing a preview of the new stamp sets for the next couple of days.   Now, let's look at the first of Kristal's new sets.....

Fabulous Friends by K Andrew's Designs

Kristal will be donating $1 from the sale of this set to Cancer Angels. Kristal has done a lot of research about each of the causes she will be donating to in order to make sure the money will actually be going to help the people it needs to help. Here is a little information about Cancer Angels.

Taken from Kristal's Blog:
Cancer Angels is a non-profit organization that helps aid Level 4 cancer patients of ALL kinds. Many of these patients have such severe cancer and chemo that working or holding down a job is near impossible. Cancer angels gives them hope and monetary help while undergoing treatment in this stage. Imagine finding out you have cancer, and losing your job, home, and everything else because you can't work. Sometimes you just need an angel...and this is my way of becoming a silent angel (all of us together) to those who so desperately need some good news in the midst of such a storm.

Thanks for stopping by- Now go check out those stamps!
