Vintage Appeal

Hi Everyone!
This week's Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky with K Andrew is all about Vintage Appeal.
I love the look of vintage- any and everything, but have never attempted to try to create something with a vintage feel.  So......
Here is my attempt!

This is a 5"x5" card.
The tickets (except the Tim Holtz "Dream"), trinkets, and corner pieces that I used were some left overs that I had (sorry, I don't know the brand).
I started out with a piece of cream colored card stock cut at 5"x10" and folded in half for the card base.I then cut another piece of the same color card stock (4.75"x4.75") and inked it with TH Distressed ink.
After it dried (with a little help from the heat gun!), I used my Imaginisce Distress Tool to batter up the edges before I adhered it to the card base.
Yet again, with the same cream colored card stock, I cut the background detail from the Cindy Loo Cartridge (pg. 68) at 4.5".
The flower was the most time consuming part of the whole project- 10 minutes to put together and overnight drying time.  I used the Cindy Loo cartridge (pg. 52) to cut four 3" scallops and four 2" scallops out of Tracing paper.  I set the Cricut to a blade depth of 6, speed-3, and pressure-2 (just like vinyl).  After the cuts were complete, I used some pink TH Distress Ink- activated with water and randomly inked the scallops.  If you click to enlarge the photo you'll be able to see the various shades of pink throughout the flower.

The center of the flower was done with Glossy Accents and white glass beads.
The next day, when the flower was completely dry, I used Brown ink to add some highlights.

Now it's your turn!  Head on over to Getting Cricky with K Andrew and play along with the Simply Sunday challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Julie, you did a great job for not doing Vintage. I'm the same way, not much on vintage but will give it a shot. The flower turned out beautifully and the background looks great. You've inspired me...thanks.
